My Background
I am a licensed Marriage and Family Therapist, Board Certified Art Therapist and Doctorate of Philosophy in Art Therapy.
My early clinical experience included working in hospice care with terminally ill patients and bereaved family members. I conducted group and individual therapy for children and adults using art therapy as a compassionate way to process difficult feelings around grief and loss.
Over the past 14 years, I have been working with adults diagnosed with chronic pain in an interdisciplinary setting. I provide individual psychotherapy/art therapy, art therapy support groups, and facilitate an offsite open art studio that fosters a supportive community and ongoing creative outlet for those who have chronic pain.
My Private Practice
In private practice I currently support adults struggling with depression, anxiety, trauma, chronic medical conditions, grief/loss, and life transitions that include work, family and relationship issues. In therapy, I take a Humanistic/Existential approach that may also include components of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) & Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT).
Although I am specialized as an art therapist, treatment may or may not include art threapy. This will depend on your personal preference.
Regardless of phychological framework, my approach is to always create a safe, trusting and supportive therapeutic environment. I am interested in getting to know about your unique experiences and goals for therapy. Collaboratively we will work together to establish a treatment approach that works best for you.
